OpenMarket to Showcase Rich Communication Services (RCS) at Mobile World Congress Americas
Global Leader in Mobile Messaging to Launch RCS Early Access Program (REAP) for Enterprises at Premier Mobile Industry Event in San Francisco

SEATTLE, Sept. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenMarket, a global leader in mobile messaging, today announced its participation at Mobile World Congress Americas, a premier mobile industry event held September 12-14 in San Francisco at the Moscone Center. OpenMarket will be showcasing empathetic interactions via its Rich Communication Services (RCS) capabilities demonstrated in use cases from major enterprise brands. OpenMarket will also be launching its RCS Early Access Program (REAP) that highlights the company's work with brands and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) around the globe to progress the evolution of mobile engagement. This program will enable companies to explore the business value of RCS, market themselves as a thought leader, gain business insights ahead of competitors, and influence the RCS feature set.

Considered the next evolution of mobile messaging and apps for the smartphone era, RCS is well-poised to transform the way brands engage with their customers, who are universally eager for it. A recent global survey conducted by OpenMarket1 revealed that 72 percent of consumers are currently using SMS to engage with businesses, and across industries, 82 percent of respondents would prefer interacting with RCS messaging over traditional SMS when given the option. RCS overcomes the limitations of traditional SMS and MMS by delivering rich content and mobile app-like functionality directly into a user's messaging inbox, allowing brands to interact with customers more conveniently and contextually. Enterprises that use RCS will be able to deliver a unique experience containing all the information consumers need in the right way, at the most useful time. In fact, 60 percent of consumers surveyed said receiving one message with easy access to all pertinent info was the leading factor in choosing RCS, as it minimizes the toggling between multiple communication channels.

"As an early pioneer in the mobile communications space, we're experiencing first-hand the excitement in the marketplace around RCS," said Jay Emmet, General Manager of OpenMarket. "Text messaging has already secured its place as the preferred channel for businesses and their customers to interact, and RCS takes it up a notch—by delivering richer interactions and allowing brands to give their customers the exceptional experience they need to stay competitive. Businesses that are proactive around customer service and committed to delivering empathetic interactions will want to take advantage of our RCS Early Access Program."
